Covid-19 cases on the rise once again

May 15, 2022

Covid-19 cases are once again on the rise in Wareham, with the state’s latest report showing 58 people testing positive in the last week.

That’s likely below the true number of cases in town, as at-home tests are widely available and those with milder symptoms may not get a lab test.

Cases have increased since late March. Last week, there were 27 new cases. On April 28, there were 32 new cases.

As of May 12, 65% of Wareham residents had received at least one dose of a covid-19 vaccine, while 59% were fully vaccinated.

The federal government is once again distributing free at-home covid-19 tests through the United States Postal Service. To sign up to have eight free tests delivered, go to www.CovidTests.gov.

Booster vaccinations are available.

Massachusetts residents who test positive for Covid-19 and have mild to moderate symptoms can now access a free telehealth program to see if they’re eligible for a treatment pill, which will also be free.
