Be fantastic, recycle old plastic
Looking to get rid of old plastics? The Wareham Recycling Center is collecting them at its Rigid Plastics collection on Saturday, June 20, Wednesday, June 24 and Saturday, June 27.
The group invites residents to bring old, broken lawn chairs, children's toys, coolers and other used plastic they are looking to dispose of. Small plastic items, like food tubs and Tupperware-style containers, will go in "single stream" bins for collection, according to the recycling center.
The center is open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
Volunteers will be at the collection center to help organize items. The event is free, but the recycling center accepts donations to keep its events going.
The Wareham Recycling Center is a volunteer-run organization that dedicates itself to diverting waste from landfills. The center is funded by grants and the money it makes from returnable bottles and cans.
The center is looking for volunteers who can commit to two shifts per month. More information is available on the town's website at www.wareham.gov.
