Ray Frederic Zabel, 86
WAREHAM – Ray Frederic Zabel, 86, of Wareham passed away at home on January 25, 2025. He was the husband of the late Linda M. (Ward) Zabel and the son of the late Ray and Althea (Brandt) Zabel.
He was born in River Forest, IL and lived in Norton for many years before moving to Wareham 24 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959 aboard the USS Hailey (DD-556).
Mr. Zabel worked as a tool maker for Texas Instruments in Attleboro for many years before retiring.
He enjoyed going for walks along the canal with his late wife Linda, traveling throughout the country, target shooting at Monument Beach Sports Club and hunting.
Survivors include 2 sons, Brent Christopher Zabel of Milford, Todd Zabel of Attleboro; a daughter, Sandra Zabel of E. Falmouth; his brothers and sister, Richard Zabel of KS, Diane Pender of IL, Thomas Zabel of FL and James Zabel of IL; 4 grandchildren, Samantha and Tyler Zabel, Taylor and Jordan Keith; a great grandson, Cash; several nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
