The Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center awarded two $500 scholarships this year to honor the memory of Mary V. Rose. 

“Mary V. Rose always credited her Oak Grove School first grade teacher, Mrs. Reilly, for instilling in her the value of education,” wrote Marian Rose, Mary’s daughter and the treasurer for the cultural center.

This year’s winners, both Wareham High graduates, are Ben Brogioli and Isabella Mombrini. Brogioli will attend the College of the Holy Cross and Mombrini will attend UMass Dartmouth.

The Cultural Center has expanded its membership drive to include options for seniors, students, businesses and one-time contributions to the center or to the scholarship fund.
