Meal distribution to change as schools reopen in-person

Sep 29, 2020

As most students return to school in-person for two short days each week, the distribution of free breakfasts and lunches will change slightly starting next Monday, October 5th.

The schools will still be distributing free breakfasts and lunches for any child 18 years old or younger Monday through Friday, including meals for kids to enjoy on Saturday and Sunday.

Since March, meals have been distributed by bus drivers. Now that those drivers need to get back to transporting students, the distribution sites at Brandy Hill Apartments, the Gleason Family YMCA, and the Cromesset Pump Station on Terry Lane will be closed after this Friday, October 2nd.

Starting on October 5th, five sites will continue distributing meals with new distribution times:

Wareham Middle School: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Decas Elementary School: 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Shangri La playground: 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Woods at Wareham apartment complex: 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Bandshell at Onset: 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The students returning to school will be given grab-and-go meals at dismissal time. On one of their two days in school, students will be given multiple meals at dismissal time.

With these adjustments, Wareham Public Schools plans to continue providing meals for their students and any other interested children in the community.
