Mary V. “Kenya” (Veiga) Barber, 100, of West Wareham, passed away quietly on Oct. 9, at Sippican Healthcare Center, Marion. 

She was born in Wareham in 1919 the daughter of the late John and Delphina (Lopes) Veiga.

She had worked for Raytheon in North Dighton for years and then worked as a Nurses Aid at St. Luke’s Hospital where she retired from after many years. She also was one of the Rosie the Riveters during World War II.

Mrs. Barber traveled just about all over the world and made many friends that she exchanged letters with. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, painting art, and cooking some good dishes.

The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Sippican and Fidelis Hospice for their care. 

She is survived by 2 sons, Douglas Barber and his wife Merrilee of West Wareham and Dean Barber of Sandwich; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

Her services will be private.
