Margaret “Maggie” L. (Mercer) Williams, 87

WAREHAM – Margaret “Maggie” L. (Mercer) Williams, 87, of West Wareham, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family at home. She was the wife of the late Richard “Dick” A. Williams and the daughter of the late Hubert H. and Lily M. (Sager) Mercer.

She was born in the Hyde Park section of Boston and lived in Brockton and Bridgewater before moving to West Wareham in 1983. She graduated from Hyde Park High School.

Mrs. Williams worked at her family’s grocery store The Milton Food Mart in Milton, MA for many years.

She loved her cat, Hobo “Bo,” animals and feeding wild birds. She loved gardening and being outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing, knitting/sewing, ceramics and baking our favorite goodies, listening to old country music and Elvis Presley, she would stop whatever she was doing to have a cup of tea with friends, grandkids, or anyone who stopped in for a visit, it was especially important for her to donate what she could to many needy causes, she loved to help people, whether it was a neighbor, friend, family or just a stranger.

She loved family gatherings and the holidays, her favorite holiday was July 4th, she loved the Red, White and Blue Patriotic theme, celebrating New Years Eve with good friends, and of course a good lobster bake!

Survivors include her children, Allan Johnson and his partner Linda Cox of Wareham, Kim Hall and her husband, Tom of Wareham and Glenn Johnson and his wife Elaine of Hingham; her stepchildren, Monica Anderson and her husband Joseph A. Baglione of Halifax and Spencer Anderson and his wife Amy of Middleboro; her brother, William Mercer and his wife Alice of Milton; her sister, Sandie Francis and her husband Michael of East Milton; Also her 5 grandchildren, Meaghan Hall, Cori Clayton and Zoe, Maxwell, and Zachary Johnson.

Her graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Knollwood Memorial Park, 321 High St., Canton, MA.
