With buckets filled to the brim with candy, the community gathered for the annual Trick or Treat Down Main Street held by the Wareham Village Association Friday, Oct. 31. The event drew hundreds up the stretch from the fire department to Tobey Hospital.
President of the association, Tracy McGraw, said this is the events 11th year— although it doesn't quite feel like it's been that long.
"I love doing it," she said. "I love the joy that I'm able to bring to people."
Businesses participating had black and orange balloons out front to signal the costume-clad children of Wareham to come in and grab sweets. From a chef cutting hair to Batman eating pizza, the everyday happenings on Main Street were flipped on their head.
"It's cool to see so much involvement," McGraw said.
Famous faces even graced the strip, like Taylor Swift. Charlotte Rodrigues donned an outfit from Swift's "22" music video.
Charlotte said that seeing her friends and getting candy are her favorite parts of Halloween. A big fan of Swift's new album, she's been a Swiftie her whole life.
"I've been a fan for seven years because I'm seven-years-old," she said.
Noah Brown was prepared to catch 'em all down Main Street as he gathered candy dressed as Pikachu from Pokemon. With "over 50 pieces of candy," in his bucket, his favorite was Reeses.
Many kids like Cade Mae Pearson took the homemade costume route. Cade Mae was a pinata-themed character named Yatta from the Roblox Game Dandy's World.
"It's the most awesome game in the world," she said.
Instead of a normal Halloween bucket, Cade Mae toted around a pinata to match her outfit. She said if she were an actual pinata, she'd be filled with "every kind of candy imaginable."
