Wareham Elementary School, 63 Minot Ave., will show off its STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) program during STEAM Night on Thursday, May 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The program’s exhibits will demonstrate how the arts and sciences are not as opposite as they appear to be, and how they often overlap. Elementary school staff will host a variety of science-themed activities, and there will also be a showcase of student artwork.

The centerpiece of the activities will be the Egg Drop Challenge. Students are tasked with creating a container, durable enough to protect an egg dropped from the elementary school’s upper balcony, out of recycled materials.

Local organizations will have tables at the event, encouraging students to be curious about nature and the world around them.

Participating organizations include Captain John Boats of Plymouth, the Buzzards Bay Veterinary Services, the Wareham Police Department, A.D. Makepeace, the Wareham Land Trust, the Onset Bay Center, New Bedford’s Buttonwood Park Zoo, Mass Audubon and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
