Key Club hold the keys to successful state convention
There's nothing low-key about the Key Clubs trip to Springfield.
The Wareham High School Key Club attended the 77th Annual New England Key Club Convention in Springfield Saturday, March 28, earning multiple awards in recognition of more than 1,100 service hours completed this year.
The club was named one of only eight “Distinguished Clubs” out of 153 across New England. Samantha Purcell, a10th grader, was elected to the Executive Board as the Bulletin Editor for all Key Clubs in New England.
Individual and group honors included outstanding club Vice President to Savannah Varden and a second place award for a project about Feeding the Hungry. The club also recived the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF fundraising award and an early bird dues award.
Sammi Purcell and Kennedy Mooney both received awards. Purcell recieved the Katie Vashon International Convention Scholarship.
The Key Club is a global organization that helps high school students develop character and leadership skills while providing community service.
