Twenty-four Wareham High School JROTC and Leadership Class cadets picked up trash along Marion Road on Wednesday, April 26.

The biannual trash pickup, coordinated by Nora Bicki of the Don’t Trash Wareham Committee, is part of the JROTC’s practice of “service learning.” In this case, cadets learn the impact that litter has on the environment by experiencing firsthand the effort required to keep public spaces free of trash.

“Don’t Trash Wareham is always so grateful when the JROTC students serve our community,” Bicki said. 

Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside picked up trash alongside the cadets.
