John M. Damata, 68

John M. Damata, 68, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Tobey Hospital in Wareham after a brief illness. He was the husband of Sally J. (Barney) Damata.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Alfred P. and Ruth H. (Doran) Damata. A graduate of Hyde Park High School, Class of 1971, John was a truck driver for Metal Service Center in Easton, and New England Pottery in Foxboro.

A previous resident of Foxboro, he moved to Wareham 20 years ago.

John enjoyed golf and had the opportunity to shoot a “hole-in-one” two times

Besides his wife Sally, he is survived by his brothers, Stephen Damata and his wife Stephanie of Foxboro, Dennis Damata of Norton, Richard Damata and his wife Rosemary of Milton, and Vincent Damata and his wife Karen of Franklin, NH. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive him.

His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
