Joan Mae Harraden, 86, died peacefully on May 14, 2022 surrounded by her family and visited by many before her passing.  She was the loving wife of 51 years to the late William S. Harraden.

Joan was born on October 28, 1935 to the late John F. and Viola I. (Tucker) Sweeney-Bliss.  She is survived by her brothers, Lawrence Bliss of Laconia, NH, and Patrick Sweeney of Moorsville, NC, her sister; Marita (Sweeney) Preston of England. She was predeceased by her sister, the late Beatriss Credo.  Joan leaves behind her 6 children; Robert and William Harraden of Dover, NC, Danny Harraden of Perris, CA, Wendy Harraden of Trenton, NC, Scott Harraden of E. Wareham, MA and Edwin Harraden of New Bern, NC.  Joan was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Joan was very intelligent.  She was a loving mother, sister and friend.  She never forgot anyone and was always the first one to step up to help someone in need.  She was never rich but was extremely rich with family and friends.  Joan loved to play bingo, visit the dog track and watch her favorite game shows.  She enjoyed scratch tickets and her phone to keep up with people on Facebook.  She will be extremely missed.  May she rest in peace.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 11 a.m. at the Avon Cemetery, Memorial Drive (Rte. 28), Avon MA.  A Celebration of Joan’s life will commence on June 5 from 2-6 p.m. at the Rosebrook Event Center, 50 Rosebrook Place #1, Wareham, MA.  Lunch will be served at 3:30 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
