Jo Ann (Mays) Moss, 77
WAREHAM – Jo Ann (Mays) Moss, 77, of Onset, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on October 23, 2024. She was born in Morgantown, WV, to the late Nathaniel McClure Mays and Mattie Belle (Johnson) Parker, and lived in New Orleans, LA, and Pawtucket, RI, before moving to Onset last year.
Jo Ann dedicated several years to caring for Veterans as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Veteran’s Home in Sandusky, OH, before her retirement. A faithful member of the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church in Warwick, RI, she embraced her faith and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
An avid treasure hunter, Jo Ann loved attending auctions, estate sales, and thrift stores. She is survived by four daughters: Chana Johnson of Ashburn, VA; Reva (Oseas) Flores of Onset; Stephanie Johnson of Centerville; and Lois Katrina Moss of La Place, LA. She also leaves behind seven sons: Clarence Johnson of Portland, OR; Arrell (Melissa) Johnson of Dayton, OH; Louis Moss of Hyannis; Raymond Moss of Lewisville, TX; Michael Johnson of Johnston, RI; Jason Johnson of New Bedford; and Bernard Moss, III of San Antonio, TX. Jo Ann is also survived by her siblings: Erma Jean Carter, Maxine Calhoun, Rose Matthews, Nathaniel Mays, Denise Jarvis, Constance Lauderdale, Gwendolyn Mays, and Renee Taylor. She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her sister D’lures Felder.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, MA.
A memorial service will follow on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church, 370 Strawberry Field, Warwick, RI.
