Wareham High School gave the Scotty Monteiro Jr. Award to Daniel Gavin for the month of September.
The “Scotty Award,” started by the Scotty Monteiro Jr. Foundation, is given out monthly to students who embody strong character, leadership and kindness. It honors Scotty Monteiro Jr., who lost his life to violence at 21 years old in 2009.
The foundation tries to highlight young leaders across the community to inspire peace and positivity in others.
The school also awarded Nathan Bruttanitti with the September Student of the Month award.
