Grumpy’s Cranberry Harvest 5k scheduled for Nov. 4
Event Date:
Entries are now open for the annual Grumpy’s Cranberry Harvest 5k, to be held Saturday, Nov. 4, on trails around A.D. Makepeace’s cranberry bogs.
With a starting time of 9 a.m. at Makepeace’s 150 Tihonet Road headquarters, participants may competitively run the course, take a leisurely walk or anything in between.
Proceeds benefit the Cranberry Educational Foundation's Scholarship Fund.
Following the race, all participants will receive complimentary cranberry treats and lunch. Cranberry-themed awards will be given to first-, second- and third-place winners, male and female, in each age category.
The race is named for Robert "Grumpy" Conway, a longtime Makepeace employee and nature-lover who passed away in 2010. A display of his nature-inspired photography will be available for viewing during the post-race festivities.
Registration is $15 for those between the ages of 4 and 18 and $25 for those 19 years or older. Anyone entering by Oct. 6 is guaranteed a Grumpy’s 5K T-shirt.
