Get your read-on with Wareham for Law and Democracy
Wareham for Law and Democracy is challenging third and fourth grade kids in Wareham to read as many books as they can this month to raise money for Damien’s Food Pantry.
The non-profit will be donating a dollar to the food pantry for every book read up to 1,000 books during January.
Once a student reads a book, the non-profit asks them to write a paragraph about the book and bring it to the Wareham Free Library’s children room no later than Jan. 30.
The non-profit got the idea for the reading challenge when Damien’s Food Pantry executive director Rachel Resendes spoke to the group.
But it wasn’t Resendes’ presentation that inspired the idea, it was a young Will Boucher who was there with his mom reading as he waited for the presentation to start.
