Start off the school year right with help from Walt’s Mobile Closet, a non-profit that collects clothes and distributes them to the homeless and those in need all along the South Coast.
The non-profit will hold a back-to-school event at the Gleason Family YMCA, 33 Charge Pond Road, on Saturday, August 17 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The event is open to everyone — membership with the YMCA is not required to participate.
There will be free distribution of backpacks and school supplies, as well as free shopping at Walt’s Mobile Closet for gently used or new clothing and shoes for children and adults.
There will be activities for children including Dianne’s Art Farm Spin Art for $5 per child, a selfie station, hula hoops, corn hole and more.
Organizations from around the community will also be there to offer support, including the Wareham Free Library, the Full Plate Project and Southcoast Health.
