Driver in fatal hit-and-run to face five charges

The teen driver who allegedly was involved in the June 12 hit-and-run that killed Kenneth Baptiste is facing five charges. 

Cameron Silva, 18, of Onset, is accused of striking the motorcycle Baptiste was riding with another person before fleeing the scene, leaving his bumper and license plate behind. Baptiste later succumbed to his injuries, and the passenger on the motorcycle was treated and released from the hospital.

Silva has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, an improper turn, and failure to yield at an intersection. 

The case is being tried by the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office due to an unspecified conflict in the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
