Candy-cane markers will lead the way to a village full of holiday activities on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

That day, the Onset Bay Association will hold its annual Christmas in the Village event. The event is free unless otherwise noted, and free parking will be available on the town pier and the temple lot on Union Avenue.

“It’s just a nice way to check out the village in the offseason and to take care of the community,” said Onset Bay Association Director Kat Jones.

Jones said the association is busy putting gift bags together and making signage in preparation for the day.

Candy cane markers will be placed outside of all participating businesses, of which there are many.

A local vendor market will take place at the Onset Bay Center, 186 Onset Avenue, with a gift raffle and live music with Angelo LaPanna.

South Cape Ice Sculptures will host a live ice sculpting demonstration at the Gazebo, sponsored by T.M. Ryder Insurance.

Visitors can see the Remembrance Tree display at the pier, or visit the Talking Christmas Tree in Dudley Brown Square from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. They can write letters to Santa and make reindeer food at the Glen Cove Hotel.

The Victorian Carolers, sponsored by Walter's Barber Shop, will be strolling throughout the Village, visiting various businesses for a song or two.

Balloon art and cookie decoration will take place at Spinney Library, with artist What the Fun, Inc.

An estate sale will take place at 253-255 Onset Avenue. Face painting will take place at 205 Onset Avenue.

Visit the Onset Bay Association offices at 196 Onset Avenue for gift offerings and treats.

“It’s shaping up to be a really great day,” said Jones.
