Saturday, December 14, 2024 - 12:00pm to 3:00pm

The Onset Bay Association will hold its annual Christmas in the Village event Saturday, Dec. 14 from 12 to 3:00 p.m at 196 Onset Ave.

The festivities will begin with Santa and Frosty arriving on an antique fire truck, followed by photo opportunities and gifts.

Onset Bay Association President Kat Jones said the event usually sees about 300 attendees “give or take.”

Highlights include a local vendor market at the Onset Bay Center, a live ice sculpting demonstration and free kids' craft. Visitors can drink hot chocolate and explore the Remembrance Tree display at the pier. Balloon art at Spinney Library will also be featured, along with temporary tattoos and cookie decorating. The Onset clay room will offer ornament painting and a raffle for a $100 gift card.

“Also, all the businesses are going to offer a candy cane giveaway or a cup of hot coco or a sale or something as well,” Jones said.

The talking Christmas tree will also make a return in Dudley Brown Square and Victorian carolers will be singing throughout the village.

“The kids just love the talking Christmas tree which is just a riot,” Jones said. “Without giving too much away, when you walk by the tree could say just about anything. It's really just a sweet little thing we do.”

Letters to Santa can be dropped off at the Glen Cove Hotel and Conway.

For those who prefer not to walk, a trolley will provide transport between the pier, Dudley Square, and the Glen Cove Hotel. Maps and candy cane markers will guide visitors to various activities throughout the village.

Free parking will be available at the Town Pier and the Temple Lot on Union Avenue. The event is free to attend, with donations welcome. For updates, visit the Onset Bay Association website or Facebook page.
