On Thursday, March 30, 2023, the Wareham Redevelopment Authority and Community Events Committee are sponsoring “SHOWCASE WAREHAM!” in the Town Hall auditorium. The event opens to the public at 9 a.m. and will wrap up at 3 p.m.

“We’re excited to showcase local talent, businesses, civic organizations and our plans to revitalize Wareham Village,” said Director of Planning and Community Development Ken Buckland. “Getting citizen reaction and feedback... helps us improve the plan.”

Musical performances will begin at 10 a.m. with Interlude, a versatile Southcoast folk group, followed by the soft rock group Chip Allen and Friends. From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wareham’s own Grace Morrison will perform her unique repertoire of “saltwater country,” including songs inspired by Wareham. Visit gracemorrison.com for more on her upcoming album release.

Businesses like Mumma Mary’s, Cape Cod Coffee and Dianne’s Art Farm will be promoting their menus and services. Representatives of Pennrose LLC  will be available to discuss their new development at Littleton Drive in the Swifts Beach community. Local entrepreneur Danny Warren is expected to attend the Showcase and is eager to discuss his plans for Wareham Village.

Local organizations like the Gleason Family YMCA, the Council on Aging, WCTV, the Wareham Free Library and the Onset Bay Association will have tables at the event promoting their services and programs.

During the event, representatives of the Redevelopment Authority will staff a table featuring draft copies of the Wareham Village Urban Renewal Plan, a rezoning article being presented to Town Meeting voters next month and a calendar of potential summer events in Wareham Village.

“I’ve heard from numerous local business owners that it’s high time we move ahead to ‘spruce up’ Wareham Village,” said Redevelopment Authority Chair Dan Butler. “There’s a lot we should do. To really revitalize the Village we need a vision and a clear plan to improve the area, attract tasteful new development, new residents, and families to our downtown.”

To help get citizen feedback, the Redevelopment Authority will have a straw poll at their table to allow citizens to “vote” on the overall urban renewal plan and key aspects of the plan. Citizens will be able to register their
preference for events the Redevelopment Authority could sponsor in Wareham Village in the future.

“Who wouldn’t want to see a summer folk festival, farmers market, fishing derby, or kids pet show and parade on a nice summer day in the Village?” Said Select Board Chair Judith Whiteside.

A copy of the events “pick list” is available for viewing on the WRA’s webpage at wareham.ma.us/redevelopment-authority.

The event is free to the public.
