Arthur Monterio, Jr., 90

Arthur Monterio, Jr., 90, of West Wareham, died August 31, 2021 at home. He was the son of the late Arthur Monterio, Sr., and Ida R. (Roderick) Monterio.

He was born in Wareham and lived there for most of his life after traveling the world in the military. 

Mr. Monterio served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1973. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was the recipient of a Bronze Star.

After retiring, he worked as an advisor to the Saudi Arabian Air Force for 10 years and then for the Newport Naval Base in Newport, RI as a civilian employee.  

He enjoyed making model aircrafts and using his remote-control construction vehicles. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and always enjoyed owning a classy automobile.

Survivors include his daughter, Denise Monterio of Pocasset; a brother, Clyde Henry Monterio of Wareham; cousins, Glenn and Katherine Monteiro; his friends, Mr. and Mrs. John Costa, the McCoy Family, the Pena Family and his many close friends at Great Hill Park particularly Anne Marie, Peg and Tom. 

Visiting hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. 

His funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
