Adopt-a-Veteran this holiday season

Nov 29, 2023

The Kendrick House, located at 76 High Street, is accepting sponsorships for the veterans who utilize the building’s services this holiday season.

Having been built in the early 1800s by Sea Captain Kendrick, the house served as an inn until 1968 when it became an establishment for disabled veterans.

Over the last 55 years, the Kendrick House has offered housing, hot meals, transportation, medical assistance, guidance and help from staff.

The Kendrick House is now asking for the community’s help in supporting veterans this winter with its fifth annual Adopt-a-Veteran campaign.

Those interested in helping can contact kendrick1968@yahoo.com for more information.

Each veteran has provided a list with a few items they need or want.

All items must be placed unwrapped in a large bag, labeled with the recipient’s name. The bags can be dropped off in the plastic bin inside the main entrance, which is located at the side of the building with the parking lot.

Donations will be accepted starting Monday, Dec. 4 to Friday, Dec. 15.

Extra items and a personalized note are welcome. The Kendrick House staff will wrap the gifts.
