25 firefighters tackle basement blaze

Twenty five Wareham firefighters responded to a fast-moving fire which started in the basement of a Plymouth Avenue home on the early morning of Sunday, Dec. 18.

The basement fire spread rapidly to the first floor of the home. Wareham Fire Engine 1, Engine 5, Tower 1, Rescue 1, Squad 2, C-3 (Assistant Chief Mark Rogers) and C-1(Chief John Kelley) arrived on the scene at 4:30 a.m.

Firefighters utilizing two hose lines quickly contained the fire. Department members stayed on location for several more hours checking for hot spots and overhauling the damaged area. 

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
