“Each year, this event continues to grow not just in numbers, but in spirit and impact for our cancer care patients,” said David O. McCready, President and CEO of Southcoast Health. “We are incredibly proud of what it represents and the positive difference our community continues to make in the lives of so many by coming together to support this cause.”
Thanks to the incredible generosity of sponsors, donors, and over 1,000 participants, last year’s event raised more than $130,000 for the Southcoast Health Nicole Podkowa Patient & Caregiver Fund. This fund directly assists Southcoast Health Cancer Care patients and their families facing financial hardship by helping to meet expenses that present a barrier to care.
“This 5k is more than just a race — it’s a tribute to Nicole’s memory and the strength of the community that has supported us every step of the way,” said John Podkowa, DO, Primary Care physician at Southcoast Health. “To me, the event exemplifies that when we come together, we can find hope, healing and purpose.”
