♿🌿 EXCITING NEWS FROM LOPES PLAYGROUND — PHASE 2 BEGINS! 🌿♿
Wareham CORE is very excited to announce that work began TODAY on Phase 2 of the ADA perimeter pathways at Lopes Playground in Onset!
This next phase continues our goal of making Lopes Playground and its surrounding spaces more accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone in our community.
We are especially excited that this project is growing into something much bigger than pathways and landscaping. ❤️
🌻 A very special thank you to Ms. Cannon and her Wareham High School students, who have adopted the two landscape islands at Lopes Playground! The students have already been hard at work planting, weeding and watering, and they will continue caring for the islands throughout the year.
What a wonderful example of our young people taking pride and ownership in their community. We love seeing these students become part of the future of Lopes Playground!
🚜 None of this would be possible without the continued partnership of the Wareham Municipal Maintenance Department and the leadership of Director Dave Menard. Dave and his crew have worked alongside CORE throughout this project, helping us turn ideas into improvements that will benefit our community for years to come. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to Lopes Playground and to Onset.
We also want to express our huge appreciation to Read Custom Soils and A.D. Makepeace Company for their continuing support and for the generous donation of the stabilized stone dust being used for the pathways, providing a firm, stable and accessible surface. Their generosity has been an important part of making this project possible.
🚧 Work began today, so there will be some temporary restrictions around the playground while Phase 2 is underway. Please stay within the designated areas and follow all posted signs and barriers so the work can be completed safely.
We are so excited to see Phase 2 underway and can’t wait to share the progress with everyone!
It truly takes a community — our Town departments, local businesses, schools, students, volunteers and neighbors — working together to make projects like this happen. 💚
