The summer Session is almost upon us!

Mudstone Studios in Wareham is offering some wonderful classes this summer! Classes are  suited for anyone with no experience with clay, all the way to extensive experience with clay— there is something for everyone!We are offering a variety of wheel throwing classes at several different times of day and days, and some great sculpture classes as well. Gargoyles with Ellen Blomgren (www.ellenblomgren.weebly.com to see her amazing work with animal sculpture!) is an amazing class in which students will create one to two very large scale gargoyles, suitable for guarding your house from evil spirits!  There is Sculpture for Teens and 20’s, and a Sea Creatures class this summer. 

SUMMER SATURDAY SESSIONS IS COMING SOON!  Summer Saturday Sessions is a selection of great one-session classes offered on Saturday nights from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. BYOB is optional, and we will have an array of local menus available for those going out to dine  after having some clay fun. In Summer Saturdays, you can choose one class or all of your favorites, and sign up at www.mudstonestudios/classes. Students will create the object of the evening with assistance and great direction from your teacher of the night, paint the object with underglaze or select a color for glazing later. We will take care of the rest!  When your piece is fired, we will glaze it and save it for you if you are local, or mail it home if you are a visitor! Tiki Cup Night with Ellen Blomgren

• Tiki cups with crazy faces will keep you laughing!

Nautical Bowls with Ellen Blomgren

• Simple bowls with added shells, seahorses, starfish, and other sea creatures as embellishments.

Garden Stakes with Jessica Mathews

• Add a touch of whimsy or elegance to your garden with handmade ceramic garden stakes! In this one-day workshop, participants will create five stakes using pre-cut slab forms in small or large sizes. You’ll decorate your pieces using ceramic transfers, stamps, monoprinting, and underglazes to create vibrant, personalized designs. Choose between a glossy clear glaze or one of our sample glaze options. We’ll glaze and fire them for you—twice—and mail your finished stakes within 2–3 weeks.

Small Birds With Theresa Hadley

• Create a small bird or two  for your garden, porch or windowsill. Students will handbuild birds from a body mold and paint with underglaze to the colors of their choice. We will then bisque fire and clear glaze the final pieces for you before pick up or we will mail them to you.

Garden Gnomes with Theresa Hadley

• We will create a variety of small gnomes for the garden or for winter holiday fun. Students will create the piece and underglaze the colors of their choice. We will then later bisque fire and clear glaze and fire the final piece. If you would prefer colored glazes you will choose the colors and we will glaze for you after bisque firing. The piece is then ready for pick up or we will mail it to you.

Bee and Butterfly Bath Garden Flowers With Theresa Hadley

• We will create ceramic flowers for the garden that create small pools for bees and butterflies to rest on and drink from. Students will create a piece ready to be placed on a garden spike, and underglaze with the colors of their choice. We will bisque fire and then clear glaze the final piece, and it is ready for pick up or we will mail to you.

 Slip Cast Holiday Ornament Workshop   With Jessica Mathews                           

• Get into the festive spirit by creating your own ceramic ornaments! In this cheerful one-day workshop, you’ll work with either slip-cast bisque forms or hand-cut slab shapes to make beautiful, one-of-a-kind ornaments. Explore decorating techniques such as underglazing, ceramic transfers, and the magical “frozen pond” technique. After glazing and firing (handled by us), your ornaments will be shipped to you in 2–3 weeks—just in time for gift-giving or tree-trimming!
