Van strikes vacant home on Marion Road
A van struck a vacant home on Marion Road the evening of Sunday, Sept. 8, catching fire and causing significant damage to the building.
According to Wareham Police Public Information Officer Bryan Whalen, the driver appeared to have a medical episode at the time of the crash.
The Wareham and Onset Fire Departments responded to the home at 164 Marion Road at 6:28 p.m. that evening, according to Wareham Fire Department Public Information Officer John Walcek.
Firefighters put out the visible fire once they arrived on the scene. Wareham EMS brought the driver to an area hospital.
The home was vacant and undergoing renovations at the time of the incident, Walcek said. The Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team was summoned to assist with the removal of the vehicle from the home.
