Community rallies to support family of dirt bike crash victim
A 14-year-old boy killed in a Wareham dirt-bike crash on Saturday, June 15 has been identified as Sandwich resident Colby Lippincott.
The crash took place at the Diamond MX Motocross Facility at 131 Atwood Farm Way in East Wareham. Emergency personnel responded to a 911 call for a single dirt bike crash around 12:37 p.m. to find Colby with serious injuries; he was transported to Tobey Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
Lippincott was an honors student at Sandwich Middle High School and loved baseball, golf and all adventure sports including dirt biking, mountainbiking, ATVing, snowmobiling and skiing, according to his obituary. He loved going fishing with his dad and brother Tyler and gaming with friends. He was a member of the Fraternus brotherhood at Corpus Christi Parish.
Lippincott is survived by his parents, Eric and Tammy Lippincott, his brother Tyler Ryan Lippincott, Grandmothers Charleen Lippincott and Ann Gavett and his uncles, aunts and cousins.
Diamond MX published a GoFundMe page made in Lippincott’s honor on its Facebook page.
According to the GoFundMe, which is organized by East Sandwich resident Nicholas Kostaras, Colby was the Lippincott family’s youngest son.
“There are few, if any, words during times like this but it is so important that we, as family, friends, and neighbors, come together to show our support for the Lippincotts,” read the page.
As of Thursday, June 20, the GoFundMe has raised approximately $9,535 with 81 donations.
