Teddy Mathews, the Wareham singer whose 2018 star turn on “American Idol” was left on the cutting room floor, is throwing a party to celebrate the release of his debut EP, “Sorry I’m Late.”

The party will take place at the Dudley L. Brown VFW Post 2846 in Onset, 4 Gibbs Ball Park Road, on Friday, June 9 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Party attendees will be able to hear the entirety of “Sorry I’m Late,” a five-track project blending pop, dance and R&B elements, see an exclusive performance from Mathews and enjoy food donated by local businesses.

A lifelong resident of Wareham, Mathews has performed since he was 9 years old. In 2018, he impressed “American Idol” judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan and received a “golden ticket” to Hollywood, but his post-audition performances were never shown on television. He was eliminated in a shock decision shortly thereafter.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at tinyurl.com/ctb9r5e4, or on Mathews’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15.
