The victim in Saturday’s shooting in Onset is in stable condition as of Tuesday. But police haven’t made any arrests in the case, Police Chief Walter Correia said via a press release.

“The victim is not cooperating with the investigation,” Correia wrote.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, was reportedly shot multiple times, though his injuries are not life-threatening, according to the release.

Police are still investigating the lead-up to the incident.

Here’s the narrative so far, as described by various law enforcement sources and first responders:

According to Correia’s press release, Wareham Police Officer Blaise Lalli was on patrol on Waban Avenue when he heard “about five gunshots” ring out from the South Boulevard area. Police also received a number of 911 calls reporting the shots.

Lalli pulled one car over on Onset Pier, but it's unknown whether that vehicle was connected to the incident. Lalli told others on police radio that another car, a silver Toyota, was driving fast on Onset Avenue.

Office Malik Wilkes was the first to interact with the victim. He stopped a silver Toyota that was reportedly traveling at a high speed down Onset Avenue while honking its horn. The passengers told Wilkes that one of them needed to go to the hospital.

This interaction happened near the intersection of Onset Avenue and Aunt Hannah’s Lane, per police logs — about a mile away from where the shots were fired.

“We got dispatched to a patient with multiple gunshot wounds at the corner of Onset Ave and Aunt Hannah’s Lane,” said Onset Fire Captain Ryan Quinn on Sunday. Quinn said firefighters applied first aid until Wareham EMS arrived.

Then, the man was taken to Tobey Hospital where he was medflighted to a hospital in Boston with a trauma center.

According to Wareham’s police log, the police had one vehicle towed to the department’s lot as evidence.

Massachusetts State Police officers and K9 units were also requested to the scene, which the state police’s Office of Media Relations confirmed in an email on Tuesday.

Correia called for those who have any information about the shooting — whether they are direct witnesses, have images or video on their cell phones or have relevant security camera footage — to contact the Wareham Police Department’s Detective Unit.
