Wareham Police Department’s No-shave November benefits CYE

Nov 30, 2021

The Wareham Police Department let their hair down a little during No Shave November — with the proceeds going to support CYE.

A total of 36 officers donated money to CYE for the privilege of letting their facial hair grow — for male officers — or dyeing their hair — for female officers.

The department’s $3,600 donation will be reinvested into CYE’s programming. Funds will be spent on school supplies, student needs like business attire, intern stipends, community events, workshop materials, transportation or possible future field trips.

CYE has set aside $1,000 of the funds for a scholarship.

CYE — Community Youth Empowerment — is a Wareham organization dedicated to providing young people with knowledge, skills and mentorship outside of school to help ensure their future success.

The organization focuses on helping young people develop interpersonal and life skills, facilitating learning, creating open spaces for discussion, and otherwise helping young people become successful members of their community.
