Wareham Police collect hundreds of toys during Stuff-A-Cruiser event

Dec 3, 2018

The Wareham Police Association collected hundreds of toys for families in need on Sunday, Dec. 2 during their eighth annual Stuff-a-Cruiser and Shop with a Cop events at Walmart and Target.

Several members of the Wareham Police Department participated in the donation drive on their own time, standing outside in the wind and rain to collect enough unwrapped holiday gifts to stuff a cruiser and even a police van.

The event was overseen by Juvenile Detective Karl Baptiste and Officer Calib Larue with members of the Department of Natural Resources lending a helping hand to transport all of the donations received.

“We are very grateful to all of the people who gave so generously and are thankful to both Target and Walmart for helping with this every year,” said Acting Chief John Walcek. “Another huge component of the event is the assistance Garry Buckminster and the DNR officers. Without their help we could not accomplish all that we do.”

He added that the department wished everyone a happy and safe holiday season.
