Wareham Junior Basketball Association cancels upcoming season

Nov 15, 2020

After consultation with the schools and careful consideration of the current state of the virus and state restrictions, the Wareham Junior Basketball Association’s officers met and decided it would be in the best interest of players, fans, coaches and game officials to cancel this year’s upcoming JBA season.

“Our first priority is the safety for all,” the officers said in a statement. “It’s a tough decision because we know the availability of youth sports to our kids is important and we are hopeful that we will have a summer league in place of the canceled winter program.”

The officers said they will continue to look at the guidelines as the summer approaches and make a decision about a potential summer league at that time. Their hope is to have a youth summer league and open a senior division that would give 9th graders an opportunity to play in the event their season is canceled due to covid, according to the press release.
