Town: Remove personal items from cemeteries

Apr 28, 2019
Wareham is asking people to remove personal objects from the town’s cemeteries by Friday, May 3, ahead of the spring clean-up.
According to the town’s cemetery rules and regulations, management can remove any items deemed offensive, improper, or detrimental to the general appearance and safety of the cemetery, including borders, wind chimes, large hooks, decorative flags hung on metal support frame, glass items, and stones.
Live flamed candles, planting beds at flush markers, the use of fencing or edging around planting beds, use of artificial turf, planting of trees, shrubbery, vines, rose bushes, and placement of items or plantings taller than the monument are not permitted.
All items not removed by the owners will be disposed of during the town’s landscaping operations.
