Bargains on books

This summer, the Friends of the Wareham Free Library will host monthly book sales.

The books sales will take place on the following dates:

Thursday, July 24 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday, July 25  9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday, July 26 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saltwater Country

Join Grace Morrison at her Hometown Release Concert called “Just a kid on Parkwood Drive” this July. Morrison will be accompanied by Jon Evans on bass and Matthuas Bossi on drums.

The concert will be at the Parkwood Beach Clubhouse on 17 Datewood Street on Saturday, July 26 at 7 p.m. celebrating her new Wareham inspired album “Saltwater Country.”

Participants are encouraged to bring a $20 donation, a snack and a chair.

Monday, July 28

How to train a dragonfly

The Dragonfly Walk will take place on Monday, July 28, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will learn how dragonflies hunt, thrive, and play a vital role in our ecosystems, as well as spot them in their natural habitat. 

The walk will take place at the Lyman Reserve Parking Lot, Head of the Bay Road and Red Brook Road, on the Wareham/Plymouth Border. Participants are encouraged to bring water, , wear sun protection and dress for the weather.

In a hurry-cane?

Uninvited Visitors: The Worst Hurricanes to Hit Massachusetts will be on Wednesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wareham Free Library, 59 Marion Road.  

Although Hurricanes Donna, Carol, Edna, Gloria, Bob and Irene didn't stay for long, they caused death and destruction across Massachusetts. Participants can explore these seven destructive hurricanes, as well as the Great Hurricane of 1938 with Nancy Franks, of Frankly Speaking.  

This presentation will be followed by a weather-themed raffle.  The program is free and no registration is required.

Hey there Delilah

Swim on down to the Wareham Free Library to meet Delilah, a North Atlantic right whale this July. Delilah is the Whale and Dolphin Conservation’s life-size North Atlantic right whale. 

This event will take place on July 31 at 2 p.m. and the library is on 59 Marion Road. This is a free event and registration is not required. 

Delilah is a North Atlantic Right whales, an endangered species with fewer than 340 individuals remaining. 

Participants will learn about right whales and can even take a peek inside one. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Wareham Free Library and for more information, please contact Mhickey@sailsinc.org or 508-295-2343 x 1014.
