Southcoast Health Urgent Care earns reaccreditation

Feb 6, 2024

Wareham’s Southcoast Urgent Care, located at 2421 Cranberry Highway, is named among six nonprofit Southcoast Health locations to receive reaccreditation, the company announced Friday, Feb. 2.

The accreditation process is aimed at thoroughly examining the site, patient visits and policy.

Southcoast Health’s Urgent Care provides non-emergency care to the public, including those who do not use one of the company’s physicians as a primary care doctor. The facilities are equipped with x-rays and other laboratory services to address patient needs.

“Once again, we are able to demonstrate our commitment to providing high quality and comprehensive care across the South Coast region,” said Renee Clark, executive vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Southcoast Health. “We are grateful for our outstanding urgent care team that demonstrates an unwavering commitment to our community by providing this exceptional care seven days a week.”

Marc Gardner, executive director of Urgent Care Services, said, “These achievements exemplify our commitment to providing our patients with exceptional care and service when they need us most.

“I want to thank the urgent care providers, staff and collaborating Southcoast Health departments for their diligent preparation and attention to detail throughout this process,” Gardner added. “Each of our urgent care locations serve as an essential resource for our community. Earning this recognition would not be possible without the continued effort of our amazing clinical team.”

In addition to receiving its accreditation through the Urgent Care Association, the company received recognition for following the association's “best practices,” which includes the use of Lab QC documentation, Inbox Lab resulting process and the Antibiotic Steward Program.

Southcoast Health highlighted its new scheduling services that were implemented to streamline the process. Patients can wait at home with the ability to save a place in line through the virtual check-in system. Patients can also use “Book-It” to schedule follow up appointments with select specialists without a referral from a primary care doctor.
