Schools set deadline for hybrid decision, bus applications

Aug 24, 2020

Parents of children attending Wareham schools have until 3 p.m. today, August 24, to decide whether their children will be going to school fully remotely or with two in-person sessions each week.

The deadline for applications for transportation has been extended to Tuesday, September 1.

The district asked all parents to fill out a Google form with their intentions for the fall and decision about whether their students would attend school entirely virtually or partially in person through the hybrid model. That sheet was due on August 17.

The students participating in hybrid learning will be divided into two cohorts: one group will go to school in person on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the other group will go in person on Thursdays and Fridays.

Each in-person school day will be four hours long, with students participating in remote learning in the afternoon.

When learning remotely, students will be expected to log online at the time school would normally start in-person and remain engaged for the length of the school day, except during scheduled breaks.

Parents who have yet to decide whether their children will learn remotely or through the hybrid model, or who want to change their decision, should contact the principal of their childrens’ schools.
