Free school food now easier to access this summer

Jul 15, 2022

Wareham Public Schools will once again be providing free breakfasts and lunches to kids and teens up to 18 years old this summer.

Thanks to recent changes, breakfasts and lunches can be distributed at the same time, and on Thursdays, students will be given two breakfasts and two lunches so they’ll be all set for Friday.

Parents can pick up meals without their children being present.

Meals will be served Monday through Thursday through August 18.

No student ID is needed, and meals are available for all kids 18 years old and younger.

Meals will be distributed at the following locations:

Wareham High School drop-off: Pick up meals at the drop-off at 7 Viking Drive from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

The Woods at Wareham: Meals will be served at 36 Swifts Beach Rd. from 11:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.

Wareham Elementary School: At the east-side entrance of the school at 63 Minot Ave., meals will be served from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. The gate between the Brandy Hill apartments and the Wareham Elementary School will be unlocked during meal times.

Onset Bandshell: Meals will be served at 4 Union Ave. from 11:50 to 12:20 p.m.

Each breakfast will include a milk, fruit and grain item, while lunches include milk, a sandwich, two fruits or veggies — and sometimes a bonus treat. The schools plan to serve hot sandwiches on Tuesdays and wraps on Thursdays, with classic sandwiches on Monday and Wednesday.
