Wareham Police have had a busy week.

Thomas Tavares, 61, of no certain address, was arrested by Officer Nate Aronson and Reserve Officer Eric Kanavos for disorderly conduct at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, July 26. The arrest was made following a disturbance on Main Street at Cumberland Farms.

On Saturday, July 27 at 12:10 a.m., Jeffrey Johnson, 25, of East Wareham, was arrested by Officers Ryan Gomes and Garrett Smith on Cranberry Highway after a call for a fight not far from the police station. Mr. Johnson was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer, and an active warrant.  During the booking process, Mr. Johnson was uncooperative and struck Sergeant Daniel Henderson while being placed in a holding cell. 

At 3:15 p.m., Barry Pires,61, of West Wareham, was arrested by Officers Ryan Gomes, Nate Aronson,  and Sergeant Kevin Reilly on West Street for disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. Police say Pires was actively causing a disturbance upon the arrival of officers and refused to cooperate before being placed in custody.

At 10:45 p.m., Tate Taylor, 21, of New Bedford, was arrested by Officers Jennifer Braley and Eric Machado for four active warrants. Officer Braley spotted Mr. Taylor on Church Avenue and knew that he was a wanted individual. Mr. Taylor began to run away and within a few minutes Officer Braley located him hiding under a car in a driveway on High Street. Officer Braley ordered the man out and placed him in custody.

At 3:21 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, Jaleesia Johnson, 18, of East Sandwich, was arrested by Officers Aaron Pacheco and Lorenzo Grosso on Hathaway Street for possession of a Class “A” and  Class “E” drug. Officers were called for a reported disturbance with people running from the area. While responding to the call, Sergeant Henderson observed Ms. Johnson hiding behind an electrical box by the railroad tracks. During the interaction, it was determined that she was in possession of suspected heroin and pills. She was subsequently placed under arrest. 

Patricia Phillips, 51, of Wareham, was arrested by Officer Blaise Lalli at 10:26 a.m. for an active warrant on Camardo Drive.

At 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2, a large disturbance at Besse Park resulted in four arrests by Officers Ryan Turner, Charles Pillsbury, Christopher Corner, and Reserve Officer Eric Kanavos. The officers were called there after reports of a group of people involved in an altercation. When they arrived, police say the group began yelling obscenities at the officers and causing a disruption to both visitors at the park and cars driving by. Labon Benjamin, 40, of Dorchester, Kevin Pizzi, 26, of Plymouth, Gabriela Yeskis, 26, of Foxborough, and Thomas Cipriano, 25, of Plymouth were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

Amanda Lee Frias, 32, of Fairhaven, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. in a separate incident in West Wareham for disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. She was placed in custody by Officer Pillsbury. During the incident, she began berating the officer and attempted to interfere while he placed a person into protective custody. Sergeant Daniel Flaherty arrived on the scene and assisted with placing Ms. Frias in custody as she resisted arrest. 

At 9:00 p.m., John Biasiucci, 42, of Onset, was placed in custody at the police station by Officer Kyle Gomes for an active warrant.

At 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, Ursula Taft, 74,of Wareham, was placed in custody for disorderly conduct at Tobey Hospital after creating a disturbance in the emergency room. The arrest was made by Sergeant Flaherty.
