Wareham Police have charged three women in recent weeks with assault and battery on a police officer.

At 7:21 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, Officer Justin Silveira stopped Dianne M. Brophy, 49, of East Wareham, and found her driver’s license was expired. He told her that her car would be towed, and Brophy allegedly began to berate him. Silveira told her she was under arrest, and Brophy allegedly struck him on the shoulder, and, in a struggle, both fell to the ground.

With the assistance of Detective Karl Baptiste, Brophy was handcuffed and arrested for  disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.

On Friday, November 15, Officer John Iacobucci responded to the Narrows Crossing Restaurant following reports of a disturbance and the assault of an employee. Iacobucci handcuffed Mary Anne Brother, 57, of Wareham, and brought her to the station. Brother allegedly kicked an officer and was too combative to be booked properly. 

Brother was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, at 12:30, Officers Calib Larue and Aaron Pacheco responded to Merchants Way and attempted to arrest Briana Tobin, 29, of Wareham, for disorderly conduct. Allegedly, Tobin became irate, resisted arrest, and continued to be combative at the station. 

Tobin was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, assault and battery on a police officer, possession of a Class “E” drug,  and resisting arrest. 

Officers did not seek medical attention in any of the incidents.
