To the Editor:

The Wareham Democratic Town Committee (WDTC) would like to thank the many people who donated schools supplies to help fill backpacks that the Committee purchased for Wareham students who may find themselves with a need. The Blue Crew 508 helped the WDTC by arranging with both Staples and Walmart to let the Blue Crew 508 collect supplies from their generous customers, who contributed everything from crayons to flash drives.

There were also several residents who came to the Wareham Memorial Town Hall parking lot last Saturday who contributed additional backpacks and supplies to help the WDTC support Wareham education. A big "thank you" to all of them, too!

Representatives from the WDTC delivered the supply-filled backpacks and several boxes of school supplies to the Wareham School Department. Photo: WDTC member, Kate Furler (right) and Sarah Eckstrom (not shown) was greeted by the Director of Student Services, Melissa Fay (center), and Jamie Wiksten of the Central Office (left), who accepted on behalf of the Schools. They will distribute the filled backpacks and supplies to the respective school (according to age), and the school nurses and guidance counselors will distribute them throughout the student body as needed.

Again, the Wareham Democrats would like to thank everyone who donated supplies and helped us collect supplies to fill up the backpacks to help Wareham students be well prepared for the new school year!
