Oak Grove selects two for Mary V. Rose scholarship
The Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center has awarded two Mary V. Rose scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000, to deserving Wareham High School students.
Stoney Ferry from Onset has her educational career to start at Babson College in Wellsbey. She hopes to become a successful entrepreneur.
Ajay Lopes from Wareham has all his options set to travel to Bridgton Academy in Maine. When asked who of all the people in the world he’d like to have dinner with he said, “LeBron James — he’s the best!”
The scholarship is in honor of Mary V. Rose, a long-time resident of Onset and one of the founding members of the Oak Grove Cape Verdean Cultural Center. Rose passed away in May 2020 at the age of 105, and the scholarship honors her legacy as someone who dedicated her life to community welfare and promoted empowerment through education.
