Letter-to-the-Editor: Chalk-Full-O-Fun Festival Extends Heartfelt Gratitude

Aug 29, 2023

The Chalk-Full-O-Fun Festival, a celebration of art, community, and creativity, has concluded, and the Onset Bay Association is truly grateful to everyone who helped transform Onset’s sidewalks into a canvas of inspiration. Thanks to our funders: the Wareham and Rochester Cultural Councils, Wareham’s Community Events Committee, and 20 local craft artisans who purchased space. Thanks to our collaborators who lent their resources: the Wareham Free Public Library, the Wareham Police Department, the Harbormaster’s staff, and Eastern Bank volunteers. Thanks for all the media support from: South Shore Technical High School, Powder Horn Press, Wareham Week’s Brooke Chandler who discovered the stories behind the artwork, and WCTV’s Christian Fernandes and Jon Day who recorded footage of the event.

Finally, a huge round of applause for the dedicated volunteers: a crew of WHS students from both the National Honor Society, led by Lain Potter, and the Jr. ROTC program under advisor, Matt Stanton; and the many OBA volunteers who put time & effort into planning, creating materials, and managing the logistics. Each of their contributions was vital to our success.

As the chalk dust settles and memories of this festival linger, we reflect on the joy that was generated by these combined efforts and look forward to nurturing the creative spirit of our community in the years to come.
