Home on Wareham Avenue lost to fire

Dec 7, 2020

The home at 23 Wareham Avenue was lost to a fire on Sunday night.

The fire at the home, which Onset Fire described as a non-occupied residence, was reported at about 5:15 p.m.

A total of 25 firefighters worked on the scene for several hours to completely extinguish the fire.

At the fire’s peak, one firefighter said, flames were “shooting from every orifice” of the house.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Onset Fire Department, Wareham Police, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

No firefighters or civilians were injured.

The Wareham Fire Department, Wareham Police, Wareham Emergency Medical Services, and the Bourne Fire Department all assisted.

In September, the town threatened to bring the owner of the property, Donald McMullin, to court due to multiple code violations.
