Good Shepherd Church serves free Thanksgiving dinner

Nov 29, 2019

For the past 20 years, Wareham church volunteers have been gearing up to serve over 50 people on Thanksgiving.

They spent hours at Church of the Good Shepherd on High street, carving turkeys and getting all of the trimmings ready.

“You receive so much back than what you give,” said the dinner organizer Pat Probert. “It is really rewarding to help the community.”

Over 20 people have committed 11 hours over Wednesday and Thursday getting all of the food ready, including 12 turkeys.

The dinner began with a Thanksgiving service led by Eucharistic Minister Maurice Parkonen.

“I am hoping that when people leave the service they will feel thankful and full of love,” said Parkonen.
