Frederick Ginches, 86

Wareham-Frederick Ginches, ” Grampy” of Parkwood Beach formerly of Norwell, passed away at Tobey Hospital on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. He was 86 years old.  For 63 years he was married to the love of his life, Ann. 

Fred found joy in sailing, anything to do with the water, especially on Buzzards Bay, crafting beautiful stained glass,  photography (he had one of his photos published in Lighthouse Magazine) and woodworking.  He was an exceptionally talented man.

Fred was resilient and steadfast , whose integrity touched the lives of many.  His spirit and empathetic heart made him a dependable friend and a principled leader. Though strong-willed in his convictions, his gentle-hearted nature and unwavering honesty defined his remarkable character. All who knew him could spend endless days recounting the invaluable lessons he imparted and the everlasting memories he created.

Fred was born in Brockton the son of the late  Frederick and Lora (Pratt) Ginches.  He attended and graduated from Braintree Public Schools and Wentworth Institute of Technology, Boston. Before his retirement, he was the CEO of Union Gear & Sprocket, Corp. where he led the family business with his wife and sons by his side.

In addition to his wife Annabella (Durante), he is survived by his sons: Frederick and his wife Julie Ginches of Melrose, and David and his wife Melinda Ginches of Winthrop.  He was the grandfather of Davis, Alex, and the late Alexa Rose, and great-grandfather of James. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Americo Durante and his wife Linda of Maine and a multitude of loving relatives and friends.

The family will celebrate his life Friday, May 24, 2024, from 1-3 pm in the Wareham Village Funeral Home 5 Center Street Wareham, MA.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
