Evangeline J. (Souza) Avilla, 86, of Wareham, died at home on May 11, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Evangeline (Rego) Souza.

She was born in Bristol, RI, and lived in Rehoboth and for many years in Onset before moving to Wareham 9 years ago.  She graduated from Dighton High School.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church.  She enjoyed painting, walking, cooking and reading.

Survivors include 4 sons, William Avilla and his wife Lora of West Wareham, John Avilla of Buzzards Bay, Joseph Avilla and his wife Renee of Onset and Frank Avilla of Wareham; a daughter, Linda Guy of Plymouth; a brother, John Souza of Rehoboth; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.

Her funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
