Electrical fire closes East Wareham Dunkin’
The Onset Fire Department’s “prompt response” to an electrical fire at a Dunkin’ Donuts on Cranberry Highway in East Wareham on Thursday, June 13 was thanks to the quick actions of store employees, said Deputy Onset Fire Chief Jeffrey Dias.
“Through the actions of the workers at Dunkin Donuts, when they realized there was a problem, they immediately activated the fire alarm,” he said.
Around 11 a.m., first responders filled the parking lot of the Dunkin’ Donuts at 3052 Cranberry Highway and blocked traffic on the westbound side of the road.
According to Dias, the fire “was contained with very minor damage to the property.” Fire fighters were on the scene for approximately two hours, he said.
Wareham EMS evaluated one person with an injury, said Dias, but they declined transport.
Early-morning coffee lovers shouldn’t fret about their morning commutes following the fire. According to Dias, the location should be able to reopen in 24 to 48 hours.
